{"id":18597,"date":"2016-05-24T04:12:05","date_gmt":"2016-05-23T20:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-business-school-partners-cciwa\/"},"modified":"2016-05-24T04:12:05","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T20:12:05","slug":"curtin-business-school-partners-cciwa","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-business-school-partners-cciwa\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin Business School partners with CCIWA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin Business School (CBS) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia (CCIWA) have partnered to offer internships to students who have completed 200 credits or more of their business degree.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Tony Travaglione, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Business School, said the business internships will give students credit towards their degree and see them develop the industry experience and practical skills they will need when they enter the workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe strategic relationship between Curtin and CCIWA further enhances the university\u2019s industry connectedness and provides students with access to potential Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements at more than 9,000 CCIWA member organisations,\u201d Professor Travaglione said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProviding students with real world experience enhances our graduates\u2019 employability. It also gives employers the opportunity to support and lend their expertise to the students, encouraging the future workforce, whilst being assisted to meet their business goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Within 12 months, CBS expects to have over 300 students undertake the preparatory unit, Business Internship, and therefore have the opportunity to be placed within industry.<\/p>\n<p>Opportunities are available to all undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Business Administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to this partnership developing further as the WIL program becomes more widely recognised amongst students and potential industry partners as a key student and industry engagement activity,\u201d Professor Travaglione said.<\/p>\n<p>The first CCIWA and Curtin Business School interns began their placements in Semester 1, 2016.
