{"id":18563,"date":"2016-04-08T03:36:32","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T19:36:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/opportunity-for-aspiring-writers-to-catch-their-big-break\/"},"modified":"2016-04-08T03:36:32","modified_gmt":"2016-04-07T19:36:32","slug":"opportunity-for-aspiring-writers-to-catch-their-big-break","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/opportunity-for-aspiring-writers-to-catch-their-big-break\/","title":{"rendered":"Opportunity for aspiring writers to catch their big break"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/strong>Curtin University and Fremantle Press are giving emerging writers the opportunity to pitch their ideas to publishers and writing professionals at a free event in Margaret River on Saturday 4 June.<\/p>\n<p>The Write Advice: Curtin Writing and Publishing Flash Mob, part of the Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival, gives local writers the opportunity to have a sample of their work assessed by an experienced writer, publisher or editor in a 20 minute feedback session.<\/p>\n<p>Reknowned author, Dr Liz Byrski from Curtin University\u2019s School of Media, Culture and Creative Arts, will be one of the assessors and said it was a chance for emerging writers to put forward their short stories, poetry, an extract from a novel, personal essays, feature articles, memoirs or other forms of creative non-fiction work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re looking forward to hearing from writers who want honest, professional feedback on their work &#8211;
