{"id":18447,"date":"2015-07-31T02:00:48","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T18:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/relay-for-life-curtin-finds-its-four-te\/"},"modified":"2015-07-31T02:00:48","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T18:00:48","slug":"relay-for-life-curtin-finds-its-four-te","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/relay-for-life-curtin-finds-its-four-te\/","title":{"rendered":"Relay For Life Curtin finds its four-te"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">&#8212; Curtin event scoops four Relay For Life Heroes of Hope Awards &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Relay For Life Curtin has been awarded four awards at the annual Relay For Life Heroes of Hope Awards, at a ceremony held on 18 July 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Curtin University event was the winner of four categories at the ceremony:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Spirit Award;<\/li>\n<li>Team Growth Award;<\/li>\n<li>Most Improved Event Award; and<\/li>\n<li>Youth Spirit Award (awarded to Jamie Kho).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mr Jamie Kho, Youth Spirit Award recipient and Marketing Development Leader for Relay For Life Curtin, said the awards were a commendation for the committee\u2019s work to build the event\u2019s profile in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s great that the entire committee have been recognised for all the effort they have put in to making the event a success. Being involved with a group of young people who care about fighting back against cancer is something that I\u2019m proud of,\u201d Mr Kho said.<\/p>\n<p>Relay For Life Curtin is driven by students from across the University who nominate to be part of the committee. Organising the event provides students with first-hand marketing, event management, multimedia and planning experience, to supplement their theoretical studies.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, teams of 10 \u2013 15 people will take turns to walk and run around Edinburgh South Oval at Curtin\u2019s Bentley campus over a 24 hour period on 17 and 18 October.
