Curtin University continues to be the destination of choice for school leavers \u2013 both from WA and interstate \u2013 following today\u2019s announcement of Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC) offers.<\/p>\n
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Graeme Wright said the TISC figures reinforced Curtin\u2019s reputation as an innovative tertiary institution that provided strong career opportunities to its graduates.<\/p>\n
Curtin\u2019s 6,353 main round offers were an increase of 11 per cent over 2013.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurtin had the highest overall market share among WA universities for TISC applicants at 44 per cent \u2013 up from 40 cent last year,\u201d Professor Wright said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur performance was not only strong in the WA Year 12 market, where we held a 40 per cent share \u2013 up from 38 per cent last year \u2013 but also among WA mature age and interstate applicants, where Curtin had a 52 per cent share of the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cOverall, the 8,005 Curtin first preference applications were an increase of five per cent on 2013. The University had a seven per cent growth in first preference applications from the WA Year 12 market and a three per cent growth from the WA mature age and interstate group.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince 2010, there has been a 27 per cent increase in Curtin\u2019s main round offers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Professor Wright said law, commerce, engineering, pharmacy, nursing and psychology courses along with exercise, sports and rehabilitation all experienced growth in offers.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome 213 students received an offer in the exercise, sports and rehabilitation course \u2013 a 45 per cent increase on last year,\u201d Professor Wright said.<\/p>\n
\u201cA total of 109 offers were made in three law courses, an increase of 36 per cent, which highlights the growing profile of the Curtin Law School, since it was launched in 2013.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was also a significant increase in places offered in engineering courses, with 535 offers compared to 399 last year.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
