{"id":18052,"date":"2013-01-08T02:21:12","date_gmt":"2013-01-07T18:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-gains-access-to-additional-expertise-from-healthcare-leaders\/"},"modified":"2013-01-08T02:21:12","modified_gmt":"2013-01-07T18:21:12","slug":"curtin-gains-access-to-additional-expertise-from-healthcare-leaders","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-gains-access-to-additional-expertise-from-healthcare-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin gains access to additional expertise from healthcare leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University has recognised six healthcare community leaders for their outstanding dedication and leadership by conferring them the title of Adjunct Senior Clinical Fellow, Adjunct Associate Professor or Adjunct Professor.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Nick Bretland, General Practitioner in Bentley and past director of Canning Division of General Practice, was awarded Adjunct Senior Clinical Fellow and five other leading medical specialists were also named as new Curtin Adjuncts.<\/p>\n<p>The new Adjunct Professors were honoured at a ceremony held at the University, featuring an address by Curtin\u2019s new Head of Medicine, Professor William Heart.<\/p>\n<p>The Adjunct appointments were made by the Faculty of Health Sciences to health industry experts who fulfil a number of criteria, including a significant record of public service, an established professional reputation, and an ability to contribute to the development of the Faculty at Curtin.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Clare Pollock, Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Health Sciences said the honour recognised each person\u2019s contribution to the quality of healthcare available to Western Australians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to congratulate our new Adjuncts on their new appointment with Curtin University,\u201d said Professor Pollock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have all made meaningful achievements and are outstanding leaders in the healthcare industry, which makes them very worthy recipients of this significant honour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir extensive experience in healthcare will make a real contribution to strengthening our teaching and research. We are looking forward to working with these talented leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The appointment of the title \u2018Adjunct\u2019 signifies the start of a closer relationship between a university and an expert working in the field.
