Curtin Business School (CBS) has appointed leading human resources (HR) specialist Chris Ryan as an Adjunct Professor.<\/p>\n
Mr Ryan, an independent director and corporate advisor, has more than 25 years\u2019 experience in the human resource sector, including leading the HR team during Wesfarmers\u2019 takeover of the Coles group in 2007.<\/p>\n
CBS Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Tony Travaglione, said Mr Ryan\u2019s appointment would build on a relationship that was started three years ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince joining the CBS School of Management Advisory Board in 2009, Chris has provided valuable guidance in the area of human resources,\u201d Professor Travaglione said<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to work closely with Chris to receive advice on strategic issues and to foster closer links with key industry players.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Ryan said his appointment was an opportunity to increase his contribution to the growth of CBS.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough my association with the Advisory Board I have come to appreciate the professional and pragmatic approach taken in both the management of CBS and the delivery of its education programs,\u201d Mr Ryan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis approach is very much aligned with my own business ethos,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Ryan said he was looking forward to working with CBS students through student engagement programs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout my career I have worked with some outstanding leaders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope to be able to share some of the knowledge gained through those experiences in areas such as organisational strategy and the development of leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n
NOTE TO EDITORS Chris is recognised nationally as a leader in the\u00a0HR management profession. His HR career spans about 25 years in the public and private sector, and most recently in a corporate advisory capacity.<\/p>\n Chris led the Group Human Resources function for diversified industrial business Wesfarmers for about 10 years, where he led the people aspects of all acquisitions and integrations, including the takeover of Coles Group in 2007 which saw Wesfarmers grow to over 200,000 employees.<\/p>\n His role also focused on organizational development and talent management to support the ongoing growth of the business.<\/p>\n Following the Coles integration, Chris moved into advisory work.<\/p>\n Chris\u2019 advisory practice, CRHR, works with Boards and CEOs on HR strategies, senior talent management, remuneration strategies and acquisition and restructuring projects.<\/p>\n
