Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Western Australia Chief Economist, John Nicolaou, has been appointed an Adjunct Professor at Curtin Business School (CBS).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr Nicolaou joined CCI in 2003, following six years at the Commonwealth and State Treasuries where he worked on key policy issues such as the development and implementation of the GST.<\/p>\n
CBS Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Bentley said Mr Nicolaou would be a significant contributor to the School\u2019s economic program.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring his time at CCI he has built a reputation as one of the state’s most credible economic and business commentators. John has been a strong advocate for key reforms aimed at fostering economic growth and development in WA,\u201d Professor Bentley said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to his contributions and it is with pleasure that I welcome him to the Curtin Business School team.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Chief Executive of CCI, James Pearson congratulated Mr Nicolaou on his appointment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt reflects well on John\u2019s achievements as Chief Economist at CCI and gives him the opportunity to make an even greater contribution to the practice and understanding of economics in WA and in making available to management, staff and students the benefits of CCI\u2019s economic analysis,\u201d Mr Pearson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cJohn\u2019s appointment reinforces our relationship with Curtin University and underlines the importance of the links between CCI and WA\u2019s tertiary institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n
During his two-year appointment, Mr Nicolaou will be Patron of the economics stream within the CBS Excelerate program for year 12 students. He will also provide advice to CBS senior management on economic and business development.<\/p>\n
