{"id":17694,"date":"2011-01-24T01:02:38","date_gmt":"2011-01-23T17:02:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/new-energy-inserted-into-curtins-mining-potential\/"},"modified":"2025-06-17T11:52:50","modified_gmt":"2025-06-17T03:52:50","slug":"new-energy-inserted-into-curtins-mining-potential","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/new-energy-inserted-into-curtins-mining-potential\/","title":{"rendered":"New energy inserted into Curtin\u2019s mining potential"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin University has welcomed the arrival of Professor Peter Lilly to the role of Executive Director of Minerals and Energy Strategy, within the Office of Research and Development and Curtin\u2019s Institute of Minerals and Energy (CIME).<\/p>\n<p>Professor Lilly brings with him a wealth of knowledge, international recognition and experience from operations, research and education with the minerals industry, as well as an enviable list of credentials that will prove of significant value to Curtin.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Lilly said he looked forward to supporting the development of a new, dynamic business strategy for Curtin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis involves advocating the University\u2019s capabilities, its people, its state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure,\u201d Professor Lilly said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo achieve this I would like to drive Curtin\u2019s strong vision in the minerals and energy space to the next level by demonstrating our genuine interdisciplinary strength and research excellence, within CIME and also that emerging from the WA School of Mines and other compatible research schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin has a huge capacity to work as a team towards this end, while further heightening its impact through collaboration.
