{"id":17648,"date":"2010-10-06T02:15:13","date_gmt":"2010-10-05T18:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/annual-awards-recognise-curtin-teaching-excellence\/"},"modified":"2010-10-06T02:15:13","modified_gmt":"2010-10-05T18:15:13","slug":"annual-awards-recognise-curtin-teaching-excellence","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/annual-awards-recognise-curtin-teaching-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual awards recognise Curtin teaching excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin University has been recognised for its excellence in teaching in the 2010 Australian Awards for University Teaching.<\/p>\n<p>The annual awards reward the nation\u2019s top university teachers and most outstanding programs and services aimed at improving the quality of student learning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of the 31 awards presented nationally, Curtin won four \u2013 more than any other university in Western Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Professor Jaya Earnest, from Curtin\u2019s Centre for International Health, received a Teaching Excellence Award: Priority Area 2010 for her contribution in the field of internationalisation. She has spent more than 24 years working in countries such as India, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and East Timor.<\/p>\n<p>Centre for Aboriginal Studies Coordinator John Mallard, School of Nursing and Midwifery\u2019s lecturers Rosalie Thackrah and Dr Julie Hoffman were named the winners in the Teaching Excellence Award: Neville Bonner Award for Indigenous Education award.<\/p>\n<p>School of Marketing Professor Ian Phau was named the winner in the Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies category.<\/p>\n<p>The Go Global program from Curtin\u2019s Faculty of Health Sciences was awarded the Program Award Category for Innovation in Curricula, Learning and Teaching.
