Curtin University of Technology\u2019s Professor Igor Bray has been shortlisted for the most prestigious award for scientists in Western Australia.<\/p>\n
Professor Bray, Director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics and an Australian Research Council Professorial Fellow, is one of only three WA scientists named as finalists of the $50,000 WA Science Awards, Scientist of the Year.<\/p>\n
He said he was privileged to be shortlisted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an honour and whether or not we win, my team and I are grateful to be acknowledged,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Professor Bray has been nominated for his groundbreaking research in the field of quantum mechanics, specifically in the area of atomic collision theory.<\/p>\n
His team solved a number of problems, including an 80-year puzzle concerning the behaviour of colliding particles.<\/p>\n
The WA Science Awards recognise the outstanding and groundbreaking achievements of WA\u2019s scientists, researchers, science teachers and facilitators of science outreach programs. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
