{"id":17408,"date":"2008-05-16T03:49:26","date_gmt":"2008-05-15T19:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-biographer-first-in-wa-to-win-national-biography-award\/"},"modified":"2008-05-16T03:49:26","modified_gmt":"2008-05-15T19:49:26","slug":"curtin-biographer-first-in-wa-to-win-national-biography-award","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-biographer-first-in-wa-to-win-national-biography-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin biographer first in WA to win National Biography Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>C140\/08<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University of Technology biographer Professor Graham Seal AM has become the first WA-based author to win the State Library of New South Wales National Biography Award.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Seal was named a joint winner of the $20,000 State Library of New South Wales National Biography Award for 2008 for his convict story These Few Lines: A Convict Story \u2013 the lost lives of Myra and William Sykes recently.<\/p>\n<p>Described as a powerful and moving 19th century convict story, Professor Seal&#8217;s biography was selected from a shortlist of 33 entries.
