{"id":17376,"date":"2008-06-04T07:39:11","date_gmt":"2008-06-03T23:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-academic-heads-state-new-group-for-anaphylaxis-management-in-schools\/"},"modified":"2008-06-04T07:39:11","modified_gmt":"2008-06-03T23:39:11","slug":"curtin-academic-heads-state-new-group-for-anaphylaxis-management-in-schools","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-academic-heads-state-new-group-for-anaphylaxis-management-in-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin academic heads state new group for anaphylaxis management in schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Phillip Della, Head of Curtin University of Technology\u2019s School of  Nursing and Midwifery, has been appointed as the Chair of the new Anaphylaxis  Management Implementation Group (AMIG) announced by the Health Department  today.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the AMIG is to protect WA children through appropriate management  of anaphylaxis in schools and childcare services, and will progress the  strategies of the state implementation plan.<\/p>\n<p>Anaphylaxis is a sudden, severe and rapidly progressive allergic reaction to  an allergen in a sensitised individual.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Della highlighted the significance of the work of the AMIG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnaphylaxis can have enormous psychological and social impact, and rare but  potentially life-threatening consequences.
