Curtin University of Technology\u2019s highly anticipated postgraduate exhibition, dOFa08, featuring a diverse collection of works by students from the Department of Art, opens June 20.<\/p>\n

The John Curtin Gallery, celebrating its tenth anniversary, will showcase the works of graduating Master of Philosophy and Master of Arts students from the Department of Art at Curtin.<\/p>\n

From digital projections that perpetuate a perception of loss, to paintings that investigate notions of mindfulness and evoke feelings of transcendence and empty, mindless space, to digital media that examines the human condition within its surrounding environment, dOFa08 offers something to interest everyone.<\/p>\n

Curtin Dean of Art Professor Ted Snell said the exhibition shines a spotlight on the work of seven talented emerging artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cdOFa is always an exciting exhibition because it documents the focused energy of a group of artists who have completed five to six years of intense engagement in their practise,\u201d Professor Snell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibition is diverse, intriguing and stimulating. For those wondering where to find the next stars of the art scene, dOFa offers some useful clues.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dOFa08 exhibition, which runs until 1 August, includes work by the following artists:<\/p>\n

Beth Kirkland \u2013<\/strong> paintings that investigate mindfulness as a way to resist the pressures in the work place
\nDragica Milunovic<\/strong> \u2013 paintings that intrigue with an illusion of depth imbued with movement, conveying a feeling of transcendence to the viewer
\nKuemhee Oh<\/strong> \u2013fibre works that transform perception and synchronize the mind and body
\nMark Parfitt \u2013<\/strong> installation works that originate from a desire to transform an ordinary life into something celebratory
\nLynn Smith<\/strong> \u2013 digital projections that perpetuate a perception of loss
\nFong-Yeng Soon<\/strong> \u2013paper works that investigate the concepts of truth and nothingness
\nJulian Stadon<\/strong> \u2013 a new media project that examines the human condition within its surrounding environment.<\/p>\n

The John Curtin Gallery is open between 12pm and 5pm from Monday to Friday, plus 1pm to 4pm on Sunday 29 June and Sunday 27 July.<\/p>\n
