This is the final week to view the current John Curtin Gallery exhibition, dOFa08,
\nwhich features a diverse collection of works by postgraduate students from the
\nDepartment of Art at Curtin University of Technology.<\/p>\n

The Gallery is open July 27 from 1pm until 4pm for Sunday@Curtin<\/a> which is held
\non the final Sunday of each month.<\/p>\n

dOFa08 offers something to interest everyone: digital media that suggests a
\nperception of loss, paintings that evoke feelings of transcendence and empty,
\nmindless space and installations that examine the human condition within its
\nsurrounding environment.<\/p>\n

Curtin Dean of Art Professor Ted Snell said it was a great opportunity to see
\nwork by a talented group of emerging Western Australian artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cdOFa is always an exciting exhibition because it documents the focused energy
\nof a group of artists who have completed five to six years of intense engagement
\nin their practice,\u201d Professor Snell said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibition is diverse, intriguing and stimulating. For those wondering where
\nto find the next stars of the art scene, dOFa offers some useful clues.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne artist, Mark Parfitt, whose work is on show, has received a scholarship to
\nexhibit at the prestigious Galerie Dusseldorf in Mosman Park, so it\u2019s a fantastic
\nopportunity to see work which has received significant recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dOFa08 exhibition, which runs until 1 August, includes work by the following
\nartists:<\/p>\n

Beth Kirkland \u2013 paintings that investigate mindfulness as a way to resist the
\npressures in the work place<\/p>\n

Dragica Milunovic \u2013 paintings that intrigue with an illusion of depth imbued
\nwith movement, conveying a feeling of transcendence to the viewer<\/p>\n

Kuemhee Oh \u2013fibre works that transform perception and synchronize the mind
\nand body<\/p>\n

Mark Parfitt \u2013 installation works that originate from a desire to transform an
\nordinary life into something celebratory<\/p>\n

Lynn Smith \u2013 digital projections that perpetuate a perception of loss
\nFong-Yeng Soon \u2013 paper works that investigate the concepts of truth and
\nnothingness<\/p>\n

Julian Stadon \u2013 new media projects that examines the human condition within
\nits surrounding environment.<\/p>\n
