Open Day<br \/>\nSunday 17 August 2008 &#8211; 10am-4pm<br \/>\nCurtin University of  Technology Bentley Campus<br \/>\nVisit the Curtin Open Day website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openday.curtin.edu.au\/\">www.openday.curtin.edu.au<\/a> for a  full program<\/p>\n<p>A display on Australia\u2019s largest science project, the multi-billion dollar  international Square Kilometre Array (SKA), will be one of the highlights of the  Innovation Display at Curtin\u2019s Open Day on Sunday 17 August 2008 from 10am-4pm  at the University\u2019s Bentley Campus.<\/p>\n<p>The SKA will allow scientists to gather information from galaxies previously  beyond reach, and visitors to the Innovation Display can learn more through the  unique iDome, an interactive model specially designed for users to explore the  purpose of the SKA and the science behind the project.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Peter Hall, Chair of the Centre of Excellence in Radio Astronomy  stressed that the University is ready to take full advantage of important  Australian and international radio astronomy developments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith its strong cross-disciplinary capability and impressive efforts in  building a radio astronomy team, Curtin is a significant contributor to the  SKA,\u201d Professor Hall said.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects featured in the Innovation Display will include the latest  research into the quality and supply of drinking water, how junk food can be  made healthy, and Curtin\u2019s efforts in providing beneficial research to the  booming resources industry.<\/p>\n<p>In addition the University\u2019s contribution in eco-efficiency and  sustainability management will feature alongside information on innovative  health research in the key areas of ageing, mental health, chronic disease,  Indigenous health and population health.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Jeanette Hacket said the Innovation Display  is again expected to attract hundreds of people who are curious about some of  the unique research being undertaken at the largest university in Western  Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Innovation Display will be a truly fascinating experience for all future  students, their families and other members of the community who bring their  curiosity to Curtin Open Day,\u201d Professor Hacket said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin staff and students will be on hand to discuss the details of their  projects and courses and explain to visitors what life on campus is really  like,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin Open Day is a great way to explore career options, courses, research  opportunities, scholarships, entry requirements and to see the University&#8217;s  facilities, accommodation and grounds.\u201d<br \/>\nVisit
