{"id":17309,"date":"2008-08-28T03:34:51","date_gmt":"2008-08-27T19:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-graduates-eco-designs-on-show-at-prelude-exhibition\/"},"modified":"2008-08-28T03:34:51","modified_gmt":"2008-08-27T19:34:51","slug":"curtin-graduates-eco-designs-on-show-at-prelude-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-graduates-eco-designs-on-show-at-prelude-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin graduate\u2019s eco-designs on show at Prelude Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"title\">\n<div id=\"titledesc\">\n<p>C237\/08<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span>28 August 2008<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Fascinating work inspired by eco-design and sustainability from local Curtin  University of Technology fashion and textile design graduate Amy Clarke of  Subiaco will be on show at the Prelude Exhibition that will run from Thursday 4  September to Sunday 7 September in Northbridge.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibition Coordinator Ms Jessica Judd said Ms Clarke is part of a cohort of  six Curtin fashion and textile graduates exhibiting at Prelude that will be open  daily from 11.00am to 4.00pm upstairs in Gingers Garage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrelude will blur the boundaries between art and fashion and promises to be  a prelude to the careers of talented young individuals like Ms Clarke,\u201d Ms Judd  said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisitors to the Exhibition will be fascinated by Amy\u2019s fabrics and  creations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prelude will be officially opened by Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor  Jeanette Hacket.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Clarke graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion and Textiles in  2007.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy design work is concerned with the connection between the built and  natural environments,\u201d Ms Clarke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis collection was inspired by the principles of sustainable architecture &#8211;  in particular the application of<br \/>\nlayering and ventilation structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find the possibilities in fibre and fabric research and technology &#8211;  natural and man-made &#8211; very exciting.<\/p>\n<p>My collection is made with materials that aim to minimise the ethical and  environmental impacts at every stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prelude will also feature works by Elise Capelli, Sophie Webber, Tasha Vener,  Emma Hunter and Gabrielle Watts, and images captured by contemporary emerging  photographer Patrick O\u2019Brien who documented their work.<\/p>\n<p>The free four-day exhibition is a fringe activity to the 2008 Perth Fashion  Festival Cultural Program. It is supported by Curtin through the Office of  Alumni Relations, by the Department of Culture and the Arts through the Young  People and the Arts funding program, and the City of Perth.<\/p>\n<p>Attention Editor\/COS: A high resolution photograph is available.
