{"id":17306,"date":"2008-08-29T03:27:28","date_gmt":"2008-08-28T19:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-shows-strong-support-for-muresk\/"},"modified":"2008-08-29T03:27:28","modified_gmt":"2008-08-28T19:27:28","slug":"curtin-shows-strong-support-for-muresk","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-shows-strong-support-for-muresk\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin shows strong support for Muresk"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"title\">\n<div id=\"titledesc\">\n<p>C240\/08<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span>29 August 2008<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Curtin University of Technology\u2019s Northam campus has an ongoing role to play  in agricultural education in Western Australia according to Acting  Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Den Hollander, who made a statement today  supporting the future of the campus and promoting the upcoming Muresk Open Day  on Sunday 7 September 2008.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2008, Curtin commissioned an external review of the Muresk facility  at Northam to explore opportunities for the University to enhance its operations  there and also across the Muresk Institute, which is Curtin\u2019s School of  Agriculture and Environment with programs at Northam, Bentley and Margaret  River.<\/p>\n<p>The review committee has been seeking advice and input from stakeholders in  agricultural industries and across the community and has been very pleased with  the level of interest and support being shown.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Jane Den Hollander stressed the importance of Muresk to the  University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Muresk campus is an important part of the University and Curtin is  committed to offering educational courses through this facility.\u201d Professor Den  Hollander said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the future of Muresk will depend on potential areas for course  expansion and growth being identified and developed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe expectation from the review, which is planned to be finalised by mid  September 2008, is that it will provide greater opportunities for our students  and staff in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe review process to date has determined that the Muresk Institute enjoys  strong support from industry stakeholders and that Muresk graduates are highly  sought after by employers.
