Julia Jenkins\u2019s passion for food and cooking has catapulted her into the finals of Ten\u2019s new TV show MasterChef Australia.<\/p>\n
Ms Jenkins graduated from Curtin University of Technology with a Bachelor of Arts (in Communication and Cultural Studies) with a major in Professional Writing in 2005.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaking it to the finals of MasterChef Australia has been an incredible journey full of surprises,\u201d said Ms Jenkins, 23, formerly of Nedlands.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am obsessed with cooking and cuisine.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince my late teens I have been doing lots of cooking classes and reading up on anything to do with food.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy love of cuisine led to food writing at a newspaper as part of a \u2018work experience\u2019 unit for Professional Writing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis taste for food writing whetted my appetite to get more involved in the food industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Jenkins said she was in Melbourne working when she saw the advertisement for the national television program.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was astonished when I was accepted, so I left my job and now I\u2019m concentrating on the show which includes doing \u2018work experience\u2019 at a Melbourne restaurant,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be a dream come true for me to win MasterChef Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe writing skills that I learned at Curtin will come in handy too as one of the prizes is a cookbook deal, so I really hope I win.<\/p>\n
