UniReady in Schools is studied while you\u2019re in high school, while UniReady is a study option after graduating high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both programs offer similar benefits and act as a bridge between where you are now and where you want to be. But there are differences in the way they are studied and the units that are offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, you\u2019ll discover what you can expect from both the schools program and UniReady, how they prepare you for university-level study, and the Curtin degrees you can apply for once you\u2019ve completed them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits of studying a UniReady enabling program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you decide to study either the schools program or UniReady, you\u2019re choosing a supportive, confidence-building entry into university life. The URIS timetable and fees are set by each individual school, with some schools offering URIS across years 11 and 12, and others offering URIS in year 12 only.<br><br>To study URIS, your school must be a URIS participating school. We recommend you contact your school for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UniReady<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose to study UniReady after graduating high school \u2013 or you want to return to study after a break, you can complete the UniReady program at Curtin University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Curtin, there are options to study:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>on campus or online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in one semester full-time, or part-time over a longer period<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in semester one or semester two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Studying UniReady is normally free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply, you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>include UniReady on your TISC application if you\u2019re a year 12 student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>apply directly to Curtin from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/applying\/pathways\/uniready-enabling-program\/\">UniReady course page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What you\u2019ll study during a UniReady enabling program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>UniReady in Schools<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UniReady in Schools comprises four units, with two core English units and two optional units. The optional units are chosen by your participating school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Core units<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Foundations of Communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fundamentals of Academic Writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Optional units (choose two)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction to Humanities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction to Commerce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction to Health Sciences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mathematics Basics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>See the <a href=\"#uniready-optional-units\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#uniready-optional-units\">UniReady section below<\/a> for more details on what you\u2019ll study in these units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Uniready<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UniReady also comprises four units \u2013 two English units, one maths unit and one optional unit based on your interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>English units<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Foundations of Communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fundamentals of Academic Writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These units develop the core writing, reading and communication skills you need for university-level work, including assessments and exams. You\u2019ll learn how to conduct library and journal research, collaborate in group tasks, refine your academic writing, reference correctly and create presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you complete these two units, you\u2019ll meet Curtin\u2019s English language requirement for admission into a bachelor degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Maths units (choose one)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Numeracy Essentials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mathematics for Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Numeracy Essentials gives you an understanding of equations, algebra, fractions and percentages, and teaches you to analyse and present data using tables and graphs in Microsoft Excel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mathematics for Science covers more advanced concepts such as functions and matrices. Choose this option if you\u2019re aiming for an undergraduate degree that requires ATAR Mathematics Applications as a prerequisite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"uniready-optional-units\"><strong>Optional units (choose one)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your optional unit is a chance to try out an area of interest, discover your strengths and test whether a particular study area feels right. And, if you choose to study something entirely different after UniReady, that\u2019s perfectly fine \u2013 UniReady is designed to give you room to explore.
