But these negative emotions can build up over time, and if not managed quickly, can impact your motivation and success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your mental health and wellbeing should always be your top priority, so keep these tips in mind this year to help you on your path through high school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take care of your body<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the first steps of self-care is to give your body what it needs to thrive. To help your body function the best that it can, try:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>eating a balanced diet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>drinking two to three litres of water a day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sleeping for at least eight hours a day to avoid headaches, brain fog or poor school performance from a lack of sleep<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exercise to keep your body moving, boost your endorphins and use stored energy to prepare you for a good night\u2019s sleep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Find a technique that works for you<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important to have some self-care methods in place for times that leave you feeling overwhelmed. Find a release that works for you like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>meditating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cooking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>playing a sport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>walking the dog<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>baking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gaming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>painting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t be afraid to reach out<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Building a strong support network will help when you need to reach out for assistance.
