It’s hard being a university student managing studies, work and life commitments all at once. This semester, make sure to protect your wellness by building good habits with these easy steps.

  1. Learn time management skills: Break down big assignments to prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed. Create small, achievable tasks and spread them throughout the week.
  2. Give yourself a break: If you’ve been working steadily for hours, give your mind and body a chance to recharge by going outside or doing a fun activity.
  3. Get a full night’s rest: While the amount of sleep needed varies with each person, try to aim for at least seven hours of sleep per night.
  4. Keep active: Fitting exercise into a busy schedule isn’t always easy, but it’s important to incorporate some sort of physical activity in your day-to-day. This could be a quick walk around the block, an online yoga class or gym session.
  5. Ask for help: There’s nothing to be ashamed of in reaching out to your tutors, friends or family when you need support. You can also use Curtin’s Student Wellbeing Advisory Service for free and confidential advice.
