{"id":6348,"date":"2026-02-19T05:25:42","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T05:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/library\/?p=6348"},"modified":"2026-02-20T05:17:43","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T05:17:43","slug":"creative-in-residence-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/library\/creative-in-residence-announcement\/","title":{"rendered":"Creative in Residence announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Reading time: 1 minute<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re thrilled to announce the successful recipient of the&nbsp;<strong>2026 Library Creative in Residence Program<\/strong>&nbsp;is Allira Sinclair.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is a unique 12-week opportunity that invites creative thinkers and makers to immerse themselves in the life of our Curtin Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Creative in Residence program celebrates&nbsp;<em>creative curiosity<\/em>, inviting currently enrolled Curtin students from across disciplines to explore the Library\u2019s spaces, collections and community in fresh and imaginative ways. Residents are supported to develop participatory activities, workshops and creative projects that enrich the Library experience for students, staff and visitors, working from the Library\u2019s Makerspace with mentorship and a materials budget to bring their ideas to life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the 2026 resident, Allira\u2019s application embraced a spirit of curiosity and engagement with enthusiasm and vision and we can\u2019t wait to see her project come to life over the next 3 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>About Allira Sinclair<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Allira&nbsp;Sinclair is a&nbsp;Nyoongar&nbsp;yorga&nbsp;visual artist practising on Wadjuk&nbsp;Boodjar, and a student and staff member&nbsp;at Curtin. Bridging her interest in scientific inquiry and fine arts, her practice work explores the landscape as a living archive, creating site-responsive&nbsp;works&nbsp;using organic materials and textiles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the 2026 Curtin Library Creative Residency,\u00a0Allira\u00a0is developing <em>The Library: Community and Place<\/em>. This multidisciplinary project investigates the\u00a0Library\u2019s\u00a0identity through research, staff engagement and site-specific recordings.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the residency, Allira will&nbsp;facilitate&nbsp;eco-dyeing workshops with the Curtin community.
