Curtin University Library is proud to present its latest feature exhibition, Library Illuminates: Storytellers of the West<\/em>, on display in the TL Robertson Library until the end of semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marking the 50-year anniversary of Curtin\u2019s pioneering Creative Writing course, the exhibition takes a lively and engaging look at Western Australia\u2019s literary heritage. WA has long been home to a vibrant community of writers, with creativity flourishing across the state since the early 20th century. In the 1970s, American academic Professor Brian Dibble recognised this energy and chose Curtin as the place to establish Australia\u2019s very first Creative Writing program \u2013 laying the foundation for a legacy that continues today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition traces the history of writing in WA, highlights Professor Dibble\u2019s influence, and showcases the key moments of Curtin\u2019s Creative Writing program over five decades. Visitors can also discover the diverse careers of six alumni who have made their mark in literature, poetry, mystery, non-fiction and children\u2019s books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside stories from the past, the exhibition invites visitors to join in. Try your hand at creating a \u201cBlack Out Poem\u201d to add to the display, or explore the Storytellers of Curtin<\/em> Read & Return collection \u2013 featuring more than 100 works by current and former Curtin writers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By celebrating Curtin\u2019s role in fostering creativity and storytelling, the exhibition shines a light on the enduring impact of the program, its teachers and its students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
