Around the Fire<\/em> was an exhibition of works from the Curtin University Art Collection, showcasing a diverse range of Indigenous artistic practices in response to the NAIDOC 2024 theme “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud”. The seven works each tell their own stories through a variety of means \u2013 painting, installation, found object, machine drawing and printmaking. Around the Fire<\/em> brought together artwork as a celebration of Indigenous storytelling, culture and place. The power of art to powerfully tell stories and promote meaningful dialogue was centred like a smouldering campfire or the warm hearth at a home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around the Fire <\/em>includes work by Ngamaru Bidu (Manyjilyjarra), Laurel Nannup (Noongar), Reynold Hart (Noongar), Norma MacDonald (Noongar), Corban Clause Williams (Manyjilyjarra), Rover Thomas (Wangkajunga and Kukatja) and Robert Andrew (Yawuru).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
