In June 2025, children and community from\u00a0very remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Kimberley\u00a0communities, reflected on James Tylor’s collection with ‘Our World in Photos’,\u00a0a photovoice project housed at Curtin\u2019s School of Population Health. Inspired by James\u2019 merging of photographic processes,\u00a0participants engaged in a\u00a0series of photography, paint and cyanotypes workshops to explore culture and country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this talk, Project Facilitator Lauri Parr, will share these community reflections, exploring the ongoing significance of James\u2019 work in challenging the colonialism that photography often implicitly expresses as truth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lauri Parr <\/strong>is an award-winning participatory visual artist, human rights researcher and 2025 Forrest Foundation Creative Fellow. She uses ethical photography, photovoice and storytelling – to explore, celebrate and share counter discourses – with underrepresented communities.
