Public opening hours during exhibitions Monday-Friday 11am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-4pm. Closed Saturdays and Public Holidays.The Birdiya Maya Homelessness Research Project Exhibition presents a series of photographs and films that offer unique insights into the lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People experiencing homelessness in Perth.

The community-led Project, conducted by a research team including Wungening Aboriginal Corporation and the National Drug Research Institute at Curtin University, involves Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People leading research about how to make homelessness, housing policy and services work better for them.

The Exhibition is curated by Chris Malcolm, Director John Curtin Gallery, with input from the Birdiya Maya research team, and features photographs by and of the participants – images of themselves and of places significant to their lives and journeys.

This project is a partnership of Wungening and the National Drug Research Institute and is funded by Lotterywest and supported by John Curtin Gallery.
