If you are a staff member, view <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/integrityandstandards\/home\/staff-complaints\/\">Staff complaints.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/mimas-block>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin University takes all student complaints seriously.  A student complaint can refer to the conduct of a University employee, community member, the University&#8217;s operations, dissatisfaction with any aspect of the student&#8217;s experience with the University, dissatisfaction with an academic matter or a process associated with an academic appeal. Students should not experience negative consequences for voicing their concerns to the University at any stage of the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your concern pertains to your course, your initial course of action should be to discuss it with your course tutor or coordinator. If you feel uncomfortable approaching course staff for any reason or have approached staff and you are not satisfied with the outcome, consider lodging a formal complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-What-to-say\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"What-to-say\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-What-to-say\">What to say<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"What-to-say\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>When approaching or emailing the relevant staff member, include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Context: Briefly explain the issue and its scope (staff member, course, assessment, or service).<\/li>\n<li>Reason: State why you believe the behaviour is unacceptable, decision\/action is unfair or incorrect.<\/li>\n<li>Solution: Suggest what outcome would resolve your concern effectively.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n        \n<\/mimas-block><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lodge a formal complaint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If utilising the above resources and attempting to resolve your issue at a local level have failed, consider lodging a formal complaint to the Integrity and Standards Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are some tips when making your&nbsp;complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be timely. Register you complaint with 12 months of the issue occurring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide as much evidence and detail as possible, include your attempts to resolve your issue locally and any responses you have received. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indicate a preference for what outcome you are seeking. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarise yourself with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/integrityandstandards\/complaints\/complaint-categories\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"84\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Complaint Categories<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Complaints to the University can also be made anonymously. The University accepts complaints can be made anonymously and will take reasonable measures to address them. However it is important that a complainant understands that this may have an impact on how effectively the University can deal with the complaint. There are difficulties in investigating anonymous complaints because the University is unable to seek clarification of the complaint or additional information about the complaint. This includes the ability to gather further information from the complainant, provide natural justice to those subject to the complaint and, where appropriate, update the complainant on the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Complaints-and-feedback-about-a-student\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Complaints-and-feedback-about-a-student\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Complaints-and-feedback-about-a-student\">Complaints and feedback about a student<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Complaints-and-feedback-about-a-student\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You may be aware of (or be the victim of) a Curtin student who is demonstrating or has demonstrated behaviour that may be considered to be student misconduct e.g. plagiarism or contravention of written laws, University statutes, by-laws and rules.
