This means it is possible to examine issues of concern and develop solutions that can be implemented appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, you will be given relevant information and an opportunity to contribute to any decision-making processes that may affect your health, safety, and welfare at work such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>changing work systems or practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the purchase of new plant or substances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the need to undertake risk assessments prior to commencing new activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the introduction of risk control measures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does consultation happen?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The University must, so far as reasonably practicable, consult with workers who are likely to be directly affected by health and safety matters. This includes giving workers a reasonable opportunity to express their views or raise issues about work health and safety at the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>View the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-12\/consult_workers_dec22.pdf\">Safe Work Australia \u2013 How to consult with workers infographic<\/a>&nbsp;to read how you can consult with workers in your team regarding health and safety matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussion and consultation about health and safety can take place in several ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>via your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/healthandsafety.curtin.edu.au\/safety_and_health_reps\/representatives.html\">Health and Safety Representatives<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in&nbsp;University Health and Safety Committee&nbsp;(UHSC) meetings and subcommittees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in staff meetings \/ toolbox talks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>regular staff updates and emails<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>walking the floor and talking to workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Committees<\/h2>\n\n\n<section\n                class=\"block accordions\" role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n        \n\n    <div class=\"accordions__container\">\n                    <div class=\"accordion\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading accordion__toggle\" aria-controls=\"university-health-and-safety-committee\" aria-expanded=\"false\">University Health and Safety Committee<span class=\"ico ico-chevron-fat ico--deep-blue\"><svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewBox=\"0 0 32 32\"><path d=\"M10.91 30.41l-2.82-2.82L19.67 16 8.09 4.41l2.82-2.82L25.33 16 10.91 30.41z\"\/><\/svg><\/span><\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content content\" id=\"university-health-and-safety-committee\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>The UHSC advises the University on all matters relating to workplace health and safety.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee is responsible for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Developing and reviewing:<\/strong> The University Health and Safety Management Systems policies and procedures and making recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Promoting:<\/strong> A healthy and safe working environment and safe working practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resolving:<\/strong> Workplace health and safety issues in accordance with the University&#8217;s Resolution of Health and Safety Issues processes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monitoring and reporting:<\/strong> Matters of importance in relation to Health and Safety Management Systems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/secretariat.curtin.edu.au\/Committees\/Committee\/39\">UHSC Constitution<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"font-weight: inherit;
