Head of School thanks Petroleum Experts Ltd

Creating industry-ready graduates and future changemakers in the natural resources and energy sector is a key goal of the Western Australian School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering (WASM:MECE). Providing our students with hands-on experience with the latest tools and software to solve real-world problems is at the heart of the School’s curriculum.

I would like to thank Petroleum Experts Ltd (PetEx), who have generously donated educational licenses of their Integrated Production Modelling software suite (retail value of AUD$4.8 million). The suite includes PROSPER, MBAL and GAP Geomechanical Modelling, which will be utilised by undergraduate, postgraduate, and Higher Degree Research (HDR) students. It will also be employed throughout the School’s other research and pedagogical programs. PetEx software is widely used in the global energy sector and allows our students to practically learn about product optimisation and multiphase fluid flow. This software is useful in the resources industry, and also in desalination and renewable energy processes such as hydrogen production, storage and transportation.

We are grateful for this donation from PetEx and look forward to our continuing partnership in the coming years.
