This project is looking at how community pharmacists in Western Australia could be better supported to have brief, practical conversations about physical activity with the people they see every day.

It is known that being regularly active can reduce the risk of developing serious chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. Yet many people — particularly those in regional areas or experiencing financial hardship — have limited access to health support that helps them get active and stay active. Community pharmacy could be a powerful way to reach people who need that support most.

To make sure this research reflects what actually matters to people, the research team want to hear directly from community members who have one or more risk factors for a chronic condition — whether or not they have a formal diagnosis. Your experiences and opinions will help the researchers understand what good physical activity support from a pharmacist would look like, and what would make it useful and relevant to people like you.

The involvement opportunity

The research team are looking for 3-4 consumers to take part in an individual or small group consultation held online (approximately 60 minutes). During the consultation, consumers will be asked to share their experiences accessing health support through community pharmacy, their thoughts on receiving physical activity advice from a pharmacist, and any practical considerations they think are important for making this kind of support work in the real world.

Skills and experience

You need to be an adult who has lived experience of one or more of the following:

physical inactivity

overweight or obesity

high blood pressure

high blood sugar

high cholesterol

You do not need to have had a formal diagnosis.

You must live in Western Australia.

Other information

This is a one-off meeting; however, there may be opportunities for future involvement.

The meeting will be held online and will last for 1 hour.

An honorarium of $37.50/hour will be offered.

Applications close 13 April 2026.

<mimas-block
        block-name="button"

        data-align="left"
        role="complementary"
        aria-label="Button block"
        data-segment="all">

Button block

                    Apply now
    </mimas-block>

The project Most Australians visit a pharmacy more often than any other health service — […]

["post-19571","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
