{"id":18986,"date":"2026-03-11T11:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T03:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/engage\/?page_id=18986"},"modified":"2026-03-26T09:26:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T01:26:36","slug":"curtin-consumer-led-research-education-and-support-training-crest-program-2026-intake","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/engage\/local-community\/curtin-involve\/current-involvement-opportunities\/curtin-consumer-led-research-education-and-support-training-crest-program-2026-intake\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin Consumer-led Research Education and Support Training (CREST) Program 2026 intake"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/engage\/local-community\/curtin-involve\/crest-program\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/engage\/local-community\/curtin-involve\/crest-program\/\">Curtin Consumer-led Research Education and Support Training (CREST) Program<\/a> is an online training program funded by the Western Australian Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund and developed by Curtin Involve and Curtin&#8217;s Consumer Research Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CREST aims to educate and upskill consumers and community members with the fundamental principles of research, and to gain the skills to co-design and lead health projects in partnership with researchers and stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will commence in May 2026 and takes about 8 to 10 months to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total commitment of the program is approximately 145 hours within an 8 to 10 month period (around 5 hours per week). The program includes a training component and a practical research component. The training component includes 13 self-paced modules, available online. Each module takes about 3 hours to complete. The training component also includes an assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The practical research component includes approximately 80 hours of online or face-to-face research supervision. This includes ~1 hour of research supervision plus 4 hours working on practical research per week for 16 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also an optional fortnightly drop-in session, which can be attended online or in-person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion of the course, participants will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>receive a certification of completion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>join the Curtin CREST alumni community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>access unit content for up to 18 months (starting from the program commencement date)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>receive 25 credit points (equivalent to one unit) for selected graduate certificate qualifications at Curtin University (each graduate certificate consists of 4 units with 100 credits in total).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pre-requisite<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is for consumers and community members in Western Australia only. Expressions of interest from consumers and community members based outside of WA, but working on WA-led research may be considered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience as a Consumer Representative is advantageous but not a requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is offered free of charge.
