Dr Christina Fernandes, Senior Lecturer in the discipline of Social Work, shares her approach to creating inclusive, supportive learning environments through eTests that prepare students for professional health practice while accommodating varied learning needs and backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekly eTests in the unit \u201cThe Inquiring Social Work Practitioner,\u201d represent an innovative approach to continuous assessment that prioritises student learning and confidence-building. Each week, students complete online tests covering current content. This structure reduces assessment anxiety while encouraging deep engagement with the weekly materials, thereby enhancing class participation and discussion. Students receive immediate feedback, allowing them to identify knowledge gaps and revisit content strategically. Students appreciate the low-stakes nature of the assessment and the range of question types. This approach particularly benefits the diverse student cohort, including mature-age learners, international students, and those transitioning to university study, by providing multiple pathways to demonstrate competency and accommodating different learning paces and styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
