Through the Two-Lane Approach, educators respond to generative AI by either creating assessment environments where learning can be verified (i.e., supervised or invigilated), or creating open learning environments where students learn to develop alongside technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Lane 1 and Lane 2 assessments are equally important to support students\u2019 learning.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-What-guidance-does-Assessment-2030-have-for-designing-Lane-2-assessments?\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"What-guidance-does-Assessment-2030-have-for-designing-Lane-2-assessments?\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-What-guidance-does-Assessment-2030-have-for-designing-Lane-2-assessments?\">What guidance does Assessment 2030 have for designing Lane 2 assessments?<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"What-guidance-does-Assessment-2030-have-for-designing-Lane-2-assessments?\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>For educators designing Lane 2 or non-secure assessments, we encourage setting clear guidance on the appropriate use of GenAI in the assessment. This doesn&#8217;t mean restricting GenAI or telling students when and when not to use GenAI, but rather scaffolding ethical and appropriate use to support their learning.<\/p>\n<p>We also highly recommend that educators reflect on the rubrics and learning outcomes for Lane 2 assessments. It is important to shift the focus to the process of learning, rather than the product. The fund offers three streams: Piloting GenAI Tools, Industry Expertise for GenAI-literate graduates, and Students as Partners in Assessment design.
