To use them well, researchers need to protect intellectual integrity and authorship, safeguard intellectual property (including Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property), use data in culturally appropriate ways, and keep human oversight and expert judgement at the centre of their work. AI tools must never substitute for human critical thinking, expertise and evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The guidelines apply to all Curtin researchers, including research students in master and doctoral programs. They cover generative AI tools for text, images, audio, code and data, as well as generative AI-driven support platforms. They should be read alongside Curtin’s Artificial Intelligence Policy and the policies of publishers, funders and governments relevant to your research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These guidelines were produced by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research (DVCR) portfolio.
