Curtin University helped celebrate its \u201850 Years of Innovation\u2019 anniversary with a specially-themed Ball held on Saturday July 22 at the Hyatt Regency.<\/p>\n
The theme of the night was \u2018Puttin\u2019 on the Glitz\u2019 and the venue was decorated primarily in gold, Curtin\u2019s signature colour, with \u201850\u2019 balloons, table ornaments and dodecahedron centrepieces designed to reflect the University\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
Balls have been a part of Curtin for many years.<\/p>\n
The inaugural Karina Club Annual Ball was held in 1968, when the University was known as the Western Australian Institute of Technology, and the current iteration of the Curtin Ball began in 1999.<\/p>\n
The event kicked off with cocktails at 7pm and guests were then treated to a three-course dinner, live music and a DJ and a number of prizes donated by sponsors.<\/p>\n
Many took the opportunity to get a memento of the evening by having their photo taken by the professional photographer.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s Ball was one of the most popular, with tickets selling out in a flash.<\/p>\n
Curtin Ball Committee member Luke Webster said the night was a great way to celebrate \u201850 Years of Innovation.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything came together really well and looked fantastic and, more importantly, everyone who attended was very excited to be there, so the vibe of the event was phenomenal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Luke said the Ball is an important part of Curtin\u2019s culture.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a way to recognise and celebrate what we do and I have no doubt this social event will continue to be a highlight of the calendar for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
