Curtin University\u2019s \u201950 Years of Innovation\u2019 2017 Open Day went off with a bang, attracting a record-breaking crowd of almost 27,000.<\/p>\n
Curtin\u2019s largest annual recruitment event was held on Sunday 6 August from 10.00am \u2013 4.00pm and gave prospective students the opportunity to gain course information, ask questions and participate in a range of interactive activities.<\/p>\n
Curtin\u2019s 50 years of innovation\u00a0was incorporated into Open Day festivities through the 50 Years: Our Stories<\/em> exhibition in the John Curtin Gallery.<\/p>\n The exhibition highlights interesting stories from WAIT and Curtin\u2019s past and will be running until the end of the year.<\/p>\n The milestone\u00a0was also celebrated through \u2018history maker\u2019 coffee cups, used for the first time at Open Day, large posters of significant figures from Curtin\u2019s past and a timeline installed on the campus. Images of the posters and coffee cups can be seen on the 50 Years of Innovation website<\/a>.<\/p>\n The day was run by over 1400 staff and volunteers, and over 530 activities were available to visitors, including a reptile and native animal marquee, live performances, an autonomous bus, robots and a fun zone.<\/p>\n One of the highlights was the appearance of hit viral YouTubers How Ridiculous, a group of three young, local stuntmen who custom-built a basketball game for the day.<\/p>\n Two members of the trio, Brett Stanford and Scott Gaunson, are Curtin graduates and helped promote Open Day using their Snapchat and YouTube channels.<\/p>\n Story written by\u00a0Joanne Fernandez.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Curtin University\u2019s \u201950 Years of Innovation\u2019 2017 Open Day went off with a bang, attracting a record-breaking crowd of almost 27,000.
