Council is the University\u2019s governing body, established under the&nbsp;<em>Curtin University Act 1966&nbsp;<\/em>(\u201cthe Act\u201d)<em>. &nbsp;<\/em>Council is responsible for the overall governance and effective management of the University. being either:<\/p>\n<p>(a) the Chair;<\/p>\n<p>(j) the person who is the member of the academic staff on Council (elected under section 9(1)(c) of the Act);<\/p>\n<p><em>(k) 4 members of the academic staff of each Faculty located in Western Australia being \u2013<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>one Professor elected by the Professor in the Faculty;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>one Head of School or Deputy Head of School elected by the Heads of School in the Faculty; The Returning Officer reserves the right to reject any statement exceeding 150 words and to re-size the photograph to ensure consistency of the voting material for each candidate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Completed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/s30991.pcdn.co\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/02\/Nomination-Form-AB-Chair.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nomination forms<\/a>, candidate statements and photographs are to be received by the Secretariat via email<\/strong>\u00a0(scan and send to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:secretariat@curtin.edu.au\">secretariat@curtin.edu.au<\/a>)\u00a0<strong>by 2:00pm on Friday 6 March 2026.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><u><a href=\"https:\/\/s30991.pcdn.co\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/02\/Nomination-Form-AB-Chair.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nomination forms<\/a>, candidate statements and photographs received after this time will not be accepted.<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Election-schedule\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Election-schedule\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Election-schedule\">Election schedule<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Election-schedule\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ul>\n<li>If an election is required members of the Academic Board will be notified by email on\u00a0<strong>Monday 9 March 2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A ballot form will be prepared and will incorporate the candidate statements and photographs (where provided).<\/li>\n<li>An email will be sent from Simply Voting on\u00a0<strong>Tuesday 10 March 2026<\/strong>\u00a0to those eligible to vote with details on how to access the Simply Voting site.<\/li>\n<li>Those eligible to vote will be able to use this link to vote from receipt on\u00a0<strong>Tuesday 10 March 2026<\/strong>\u00a0until the close of the voting period.<\/li>\n<li>The voting period will end at\u00a0<strong>5:00pm on Monday 23 March 2026<\/strong>.
