{"id":35537,"date":"2026-01-30T10:55:49","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T02:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/?page_id=35537"},"modified":"2026-02-03T11:53:38","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T03:53:38","slug":"election-of-head-of-school-or-deputy-head-of-school-from-each-faculty-to-the-academic-board","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/governance\/secretariat\/elections\/election-of-head-of-school-or-deputy-head-of-school-from-each-faculty-to-the-academic-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Election of Head of School or Deputy Head of School from each Faculty to the Academic Board"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Call for nominations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Term of office commencing 1 April 2026 and concluding 31 March 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">This is a call for nominations for the election of a member to the Academic Board being a Head of School or Deputy Head of School from each Faculty, and for a Deputy of that member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Statute 21 \u2013 Academic Board<\/em> provides for the establishment of an Academic Board. The Academic Board is a committee of the University Council and is responsible to the University Council for helping to ensure that the academic quality, integrity and standards of the University\u2019s operations as an academic institution align with the Higher Education Standards Framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Board exercises leadership and has a major role in promoting and communicating academic values, standards, and quality enhancement throughout the University. The Statement and several other key governance documents can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/services\/legal-services\/secretariat-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Secretariat <\/a>webpage. However, no member shall serve for more than 3 consecutive terms (Rule 3.4(4)(b)).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Persons Eligible to Nominate a Candidate:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nA Head of School or Deputy Head of School, who is a member of the academic staff of the Faculty, may nominate themselves or another Head of School or Deputy Head of School who is a member of the academic staff of the Faculty and located in Western Australia to be a candidate for this position.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Nominations,-supporting-candidate-statements-and-photographs\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Nominations,-supporting-candidate-statements-and-photographs\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Nominations,-supporting-candidate-statements-and-photographs\">Nominations, supporting candidate statements and photographs<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Nominations,-supporting-candidate-statements-and-photographs\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Nominations are to be made using the nomination form which must be completed, signed and dated by both the nominee and nominator.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates are strongly encouraged to provide a short statement (not exceeding 150 words) and a passport-sized photograph (in jpeg format) for circulation with the voting material, should an election be required. The Returning Officer reserves the right to reject any statement exceeding 150 words and to re-size the photograph to ensure consistency of the voting material for each candidate.
