Election"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notice of Election<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When nominations closed on Thursday 27 March 2025, two nominations for the election of a Professor from the Faculty of Science and Engineering to the Academic Board had been received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An election will therefore be conducted to determine which candidate will be elected to the Academic Board.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Eligibility-\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Eligibility-\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Eligibility-\">Eligibility <\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Eligibility-\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Rule 3.1(1)(k)(i) of the Academic Board Constitution provides for the membership of the Academic Board to include, \u201cone Professor elected by the Professors in the Faculty.\u201d\u00a0 A Deputy to the member may also be elected under Rule 3.3(4).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Persons Eligible for Election<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nAll Professors who are members of the academic staff of the Faculty of Science and Engineering are eligible for election to the Academic Board.\u00a0 However, no member shall serve for more than 3 successive terms (pursuant to Rule 3.4(4)(b) of the Academic Board Constitution).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Persons Eligible to Nominate a Candidate<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nA Professor, who is a member of the academic staff may nominate another Professor who is a member of the academic staff from the Faculty of Science and Engineering to be a candidate for this position, or may nominate themselves as a candidate for this position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please Note:\u00a0<\/strong>If during the term of office, a person who is elected to this position ceases to be a member of the Academic staff, they would also cease to a member on the Academic Board.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div data-panel-height=\"0px\">\n<div class=\"kt-accordion-panel-inner\">\n<p>Pursuant to Rule 3.4(2)(c) of the Academic Board Constitution Rules 2019, the term of office of the elected member to the Academic Board, and their deputy, will commence <strong>upon election\u00a0<\/strong>and conclude on <strong>31 March 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-pane kt-accordion-pane kt-accordion-pane-3 kt-pane21156_e976d1-1d\">\n<div class=\"kt-accordion-header-wrap\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Election-Schedule\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Election-Schedule\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Election-Schedule\">Election Schedule<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Election-Schedule\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>The key dates in relation to this election are as follows<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If an election is required, all persons eligible to vote will be notified by email on <strong>Tuesday 1 April 2025<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>An electronic ballot form will be prepared and will incorporate the candidate statements and photographs (where provided).<\/li>\n<li>An email will be sent from Simply Voting on <strong>Tuesday 1 April 2025<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>to those eligible to vote with details on how to access the Simply Voting site.<\/li>\n<li>Those eligible to vote will be able to use this link to vote from receipt on <strong>Tuesday 1 April 2025<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>until the close of the voting period.<\/li>\n<li>The voting period will end at\u00a0<strong>5.00 pm on Tuesday 15 April 2025<\/strong>. After this time it will no longer be possible to access the Simply Voting site to vote in this election.<\/li>\n<li>Votes will be counted as soon as practicable after the voting period ends.<\/li>\n<li>The result of the election will be declared by the Returning Officer on <strong>Thursday 17 April 2025<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Election-Process\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Election-Process\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Election-Process\">Election Process<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Election-Process\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ul>\n<li>Should only one valid nomination for a candidate be received by the closing date for nominations, that candidate will be declared elected.<\/li>\n<li>If more than one valid nomination is received, an election will be conducted to fill the position.<\/li>\n<li>The election will be conducted using Curtin University\u2019s electronic voting system\u00a0<strong>\u2018Simply Voting\u2019<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The system of voting will be Optional Preferential.<\/li>\n<li>The candidate who receives the highest number of votes following the distribution of preferences will be declared elected to the Academic Board.<\/li>\n<li>The candidate who receives the second highest number of votes following the distribution of preferences will be declared elected as the Deputy to the Member.<\/li>\n<li>All members, whether appointed or elected, are required to act at all times in the best interests of the University<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
