{"id":25599,"date":"2024-10-02T08:20:24","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T08:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/?page_id=25599"},"modified":"2024-10-02T09:00:18","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T09:00:18","slug":"appointment-of-a-general-staff-member-to-the-kalgoorlie-campus-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/governance\/secretariat\/elections\/appointment-of-a-general-staff-member-to-the-kalgoorlie-campus-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Staff to Kalgoorlie Council"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">Call for Nominations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kalgoorlie Campus Council is established under the&nbsp;<em>Curtin University Act 1966&nbsp;<\/em>(\u2018the Act&#8217;) and has certain governance functions in respect of the Kalgoorlie Campus. Section 21M(1)(g) of the Act provides that the Kalgoorlie Campus Council shall include <em>a member of the general staff of the Kalgoorlie Campus who is appointed by the Council of the University f<\/em>or a term of office of three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important for nominees to understand that appointed members do not \u2018represent&#8217; the constituencies from which they are drawn.&nbsp; Rather they are expected to bring the perspective of a <em>general staff<\/em> member to the Campus Council.&nbsp; All members are to act in all matters concerning the Kalgoorlie Campus in the manner that to it appears most likely to promote the objects and interests of the Kalgoorlie Campus and the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>General staff considering nominating for appointment are encouraged to read the <a href=\"https:\/\/secretariat.curtin.edu.au\/local\/docs\/KCC_Charter.pdf\">Charter for the Kalgoorlie Campus Council<\/a> on the Secretariat website. members (other than the academic staff) of the Kalgoorlie Campus are eligible for appointment to the Kalgoorlie Campus Council.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that pursuant to section 2(1)(a) of Schedule 2 of the Act, a member appointed under section 21M(1)(g) holds office for a term, not exceeding 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>Pursuant to clause 2(2) of Schedule 2 of the Act, a member appointed under section 21M(1)(g) on the expiry of his or her term of office may be eligible for reappointment; but on the expiry of a third successive term of office he or she is not eligible to hold office as a member until 12 months have elapsed after such expiry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Staff-Members-Eligible-to-Nominate-a-Candidate\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" another general staff member (other than the academic staff), to be a candidate for this appointment.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Appointment-Process\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Following the receipt of nominations, the Vice-Chancellor will consider the nominations and candidate statements received in accordance with the relevant <a href=\"https:\/\/s30991.pcdn.co\/about\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2022\/12\/Nom_of_Members_Appnted_by_the_Uni_Council_to_the_Kal_Campus_Council_Proc.pdf\">procedures<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">The Vice-Chancellor will make a recommendation on the preferred nominee to the University Council for approval.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the University Council has made a resolution on the matter at its meeting to be held on 28 November 2024, the Council Secretary will formally advise the successful nominee by letter and advise the Kalgoorlie Campus Council
