The second event as part of our HASS Series of Workshops this year invites you to explore if democracy is still alive, or are we teaching an ideal that no longer reflects reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This highly interactive professional learning session invites HASS teachers to critically explore democracy through a global and contemporary lens where democratic progress is under strain. Moving beyond traditional definitions, participants will observe a debate between experts and engage in simulations and critical dialogues that unpack how power, inequality, media, and historical legacies shape democratic systems in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aligned with the Version 9 WA HASS curriculum, this workshop supports teachers to deepen students\u2019 understandings of Civics and Citizenship by examining real-world challenges to democracy, comparing systems across contexts, questioning whose voices are heard (or excluded), and considering creative opportunities for democratic futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
