Our research institutes and centres
Curtin's research institutes and research centres represent groupings of research excellence in key areas across the University. They bring together some of the most well-respected researchers from Australia and the world, across a range of areas.
In addition, Curtin is either home to, or participates in, many Australian initiatives, including industry funded initiatives, state-funded Centres of Excellence in Science and Innovation and Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs).
These institutes and centres operate under the Procedure for the Establishment, Operation and Review of University Research Institutes and Centres, or the Procedure for the Establishment, Operation and Review of Externally Funded Research Centres.

Establishing and operating a research institute/centre
Expressions of interest to establish a research institute or centre are invited from time to time from research groups across the University. Guidelines and the form for submitting an expression of interest are available below and should be submitted to the Manager, Research Operations.
Once established, each group must submit an annual report for review.
