We offer higher degrees by research at the master and doctoral level. At least two-thirds of the work required for a research degree is research-based.

Master by research
The Master of Philosophy aims to expand knowledge beyond the undergraduate honours or postgraduate diploma level, culminating in a research thesis.

Entry requirements:
Generally, a bachelor degree with honours or postgraduate diploma.

Course duration:
One to two years full time study or part time equivalent.
Fees:
Under the Research Training Scheme, Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents undertaking master degrees by research are exempt from paying tuition fees.
International students are required to pay tuition fees unless they are in receipt of a scholarship that covers the fees. Visit our fees website for more information.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and other doctoral research degrees
Doctoral research degree candidates should uncover new knowledge either by the discovery of new facts, the formulation of theories or the innovative reinterpretation of known data and established ideas.
