Curtin Resources and Chemistry Precinct
Curtin Resources and Chemistry Precinct
The Western Australian economy is booming on the back of a rapidly expanding resources sector and our Resources and Chemistry Precinct is an investment in its sustained growth and development. Created at a cost of $116 million and opened in 2009, it was primarily funded by Curtin with contributions from BHP Billiton and the Australian Federal Government.
The Precinct is a powerful and unique collaboration between university, government and industry that takes industry-focused research to the next level. It houses Curtin's Department of Chemistry and the ChemCentre - the WA Government's flagship chemical science facility- in state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory facilities. It provides an environment for research activities ranging from fundamental 'blue sky' investigations to those directly related to the biotechnology, chemical, minerals, energy and resources sectors.
